WHAT WE BELIEVE

THE BIBLE

We believe that all sixty-six books of the Bible are given by inspiration from God and are without error as originally written. The Bible is God’s Word and our only authority for faith and practice.

2 Timothy 3:15-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21

We believe that the Godhead exists in three distinct persons who are coequal and co-eternal: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.

Genesis 1:26; Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14

THE TRINITY

We believe that the Godhead exists in three distinct persons who are coequal and co-eternal: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.

Genesis 1: 26; Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14

THE FATHER

We believe that God is the Spiritual Father of all who trust in Him. As our spiritual Father, He answers our prayers, forgives our sins, chastens us and is the giver of every good and perfect gift.

John 14:23; 16:23; Hebrews 12:5-11; James 1:17; 1 John 1: 9; 3:1-2

CHRIST

We believe the Christ is God manifest in the flesh, virgin born and sinless; that He died for our sins; that He rose again bodily from the dead; and that He ascended to heaven where He now mediates as our Advocate and High Priest.

Matthew 1:20-25; 1 Corinthians 15:1-6; Hebrews 4:14-16; 1 John 2:1

THE HOLY SPIRIT

We believe that the Holy Spirit glorifies Christ, not Himself; that He convicts and regenerates unbelievers; that He baptizes, seals, indwells and gives spiritual gifts to all believers at the moment of salvation; and that He fills, teaches and guides all obedient Christians.

John 3:1-7; 16;7-14; 1 Corinthians 12:11-13; Ephesians 1:13

ANGELS

We believe that God created a great number of angels to serve and worship Him and to minister to believers. Satan and the demons are fallen angels who sinned against God, who are actively working against Christ and Christians and who will be cast into hell forever.

Luke 2:9-14; Hebrews 1:6-7, 14; Ezekiel 28:14-15; Matthew 25:41; Hebrews 1:14; Revelation 20:10

CREATION AND MAN

We believe that the Genesis account of creation is to be understood historically and literally (six days) and not allegorically or figuratively. We believe that man was created in the image and likeness of God.

Genesis 1

SIN

We believe that the first man, Adam, sinned, bringing spiritual death to all and that all men are totally depraved and without ability in themselves to come to God. As sinners, all men are enemies of God, children of Satan, under condemnation, without excuse and fully responsible for their actions and therefore, in need of Christ’s salvation.

Genesis 1; John 3:18; 6:44; 8:44; Romans 1:18-23; 5:12; 7:24-25; Ephesians 2:1-3

SALVATION

We believe that God sent a Savior because of His love for the world. Salvation is wholly of God by grace through faith and not of works. Eternal life is a free gift to everyone who believes in Christ. Since salvation encompasses the past, present and future plan of God, the believer is eternally secure in Christ.

John 3:16; 10:27-30; Romans 8:28-39; Ephesians 1:3-5,7; 2:8-9

THE CHURCH

We believe that all who place their faith in Jesus Christ, from the Day of Pentecost in Acts 2 until Christ comes again, are members of the church, which is the body of Christ. The local church is an organized group of believers who meet for worship, teaching, prayer, works of service and fellowship. The church observes two symbolic ordinances: water baptism by immersion and the Lord’s Supper.

Matthew 28:10; Luke 22:19; Acts 2:41-47; 1 Corinthians 12:13; Ephesians 1:22-23; 4:11-16.

FUTURE EVENTS

We believe that all believers pass into the presence of Christ in heaven at the moment of death. Christ’s return to take the church from earth (the rapture) is imminent and immediately following the removal of the church, the seven year tribulation period of judgment on the earth will occur, after which Christ will return to the earth to reign in Israel and over all nations for 1,000 years. After which, all unbelievers will be resurrected and cast into the eternal lake of fire. At this time, God will destroy the present heaven and earth and create a new heaven and earth where all believers will live eternally with Jesus Christ.

Luke 23:43; 2 Corinthians 5:8; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; Revelation 20-21:3.
